A Wedding Photoshoot around York: Yan and Geoffrey

Greetings! I hope you are all doing OK out there! I am well, thank you. I honestly don’t know where the last 4 months have gone, it’s all some kind of weird blur. But hey, here we are!

Like all wedding photographers, I’ve spent the last few months fitting in postponements and being there for my couples who have had to totally adjust their wedding mindsets after months and years of planning. I feel for them so much.

Nothing is yet certain about when big, or even medium, weddings may be allowed to take off again…

Some of you who are engaged may be re-thinking your plans to a small ceremony and maybe a big party at a later date.

Or maybe you just want to get hitched and you’re happy with a mini-wedding anyway.

If either is the case, you could still get some amazing pictures like these of the two of you and I’d love to hear from you!

Last Friday I had THE best hour photographing Yan and Geoffrey’s wedding portraits around York. They actually got married back in September in a small registry office wedding followed by an intimate meal. Sounds great to me! They didn’t have professional photos on the day so they got in touch with me back in December to see if they could dress up in their wedding gear and we could spend some time getting some beautiful shots after the event. Yan’s family live in Cananda and she wanted some beautiful photos as a keepsake for her grandparents who could not be there on the day. Plus it gave them a good excuse to get dressed up in their wedding gear again!

What with bad weather and that other thing that shall not be named, we had to postpone this shoot I don’t know how many times! But this time the weather stayed dry for us and I was able to keep a safe social distance as we took a stroll around some of the iconic historical locations of York.

Yan and Geoffrey describe their relationship as far from normal so it was fitting for them to have a non-traditional wedding experience. I love to be a part of weddings of all shapes and sizes and if your doesn’t fit the usual mode, that’s great with me and keeps life interesting!

I’ve put together a few highlights for you and there were so many more that I couldn’t include here. I’m totally IN LOVE with these shots, all captured in just an hour together. Aren’t Yan and Geoffrey just bloody gorgeous?! As usual when couples come to me, they were a bit nervous about the camera and worried that they would feel awkward but with a bit of gentle direction and lots of lovely chatting and fun, we were able to capture these stunning shots. I’m sure when you see them, awkward is NOT the feeling that springs to mind!

It was just amazing to be out shooting again and I had so much fun with these two. Wishing them a very happy and healthy married life!
