A Summertime Lake District Wedding - Tom and Zoe
Hasn't it been a cracking Summer so far?! Beautiful weather, BBQs galore and even a good football result! These two totally nailed their choice of time and place to become Mr and Mrs back in June. Choosing a largely outdoor location in the Lake District comes with a heavy risk of rain-as anyone who knows the area will tell you-but not this year! And you'd be pushed to find a more spectacular place in the sunshine than this!
Zoe and Tom, with their close family and friends, made a complete wedding weekend of it, hiring out the stunning Silverholme Manor next to Lake Windermere from Friday to Monday so that they could extend the festivities and make the most of the incredible location. Boy did they choose a good weekend for it!
The wedding day itself was just perfect and I loved working with these two. They are so happy together, up for a laugh, laid-back and happen to be easy on the eye too: a photographer's dream! Oh and Zoe was also willing to trudge through fields for me in her amazing dress - another plus point!
Bridal preparations involved the usual fun-time mix of prosecco, makeup, hairspray, dress adjustments and laughs. You think you have all the time in the world then suddenly it's walk-down-the-isle-time!
The ceremony room itself was filled with lovely light and you could feel the love in the air for this couple.
Following the big "I do"s, we had some great fun with the group shots. My style is relaxed and my couples know that I don't want formal group shots to dominate the day as I want you to be having fun with your guests. But I know it's important for you to commemorate having your loved ones together too. I do love it when guests are prepared to be a little bit silly at this point as it makes for some memorable moments!
We then made the most of the lakeside location for some beautiful shots of the newlyweds. This half an hour together is a great opportunity for any couple to take a little breather away from the crowds for the first time (me and my camera aside!).
What I particularly loved about this day was the totally relaxed vibes. Guests could mooch about in the sunshine on the lawns overlooking the lake and they had everything they needed for a great time right on hand in the house or at the bar. The food was hearty and local: huge, succulent pork pies and slabs of cheese to start, the tastiest bangers and mash as the main event and a cake and cookie table to die for! Prosecco and beer flowed and a great time was had by all!
I love it when couples break with tradition and Zoe showed some real 'Girl Power' by showing the blokes how to do it with a speech which was both funny and moving, and not an ounce of nerves. I was really impressed!
I'm so pleased that Zoe and Tom chose me to photograph their spectacular, pretty, happy, fun and relaxed wedding; it's one that I certainly won't forget! Looking forward to hearing about their next adventures as they navigate this wonderful world together.
