A Smiley, Happy Sandburn Hall Wedding in York: Shelley and Gareth

If I had three words to sum up the wedding of Shelley and Gareth at the wonderful Sandburn Hall in York at the start of August? Biggest. Smiles. EVER!

I had met this lovely couple a few weeks before for a coffee and it was obvious straight away that they are meant to be. Gareth said in his speech that they don’t do things by halves what with house buying, travels and a wedding since they met online not too long ago. But when you know, you know, right? Love just shines through their eyes when they look at each other and they clearly make each other so happy. I mean, just LOOK…!

Sandburn Hall is a pretty stonking venue and it looked spectacular on the day dressed in the electric blue colour theme! Big shout out to Holly and Foss Bath Boutique who made the beautiful bath bomb favours! We were lucky in this hit-and-miss Summer that the weather was fair, if not sunny, so guests were able to enjoy the lovely outdoor areas and views from the balcony. Gaawjus!

I love having fun with the group shots after the ceremony and when a pesky wasp made an appearance during the beautiful bridesmaids group, it became a great moment for the shots - luckily no-one was stung or things could have taken a turn for the worst!

Plenty of fun was had at the reception and the atmosphere was happy and relaxed - right up my street!

Shelley and Gareth’s first dance was an emotional one! I told them later that I had shed a tear, and I wasn’t the only one! Shelley lives with a condition called Dystonia which causes uncontrolled and sometimes painful muscle movements. She is one brave and tough lady and I was honoured to photograph her wedding and so pleased to see how happy she is. Anyone who knows them would agree that her and Gareth are clearly destined to be together!

Shelley would like to thank Citizens Advice York who she previously worked for and have helped her in innumerable ways. Her and Gareth would also like to thank all their wonderful family and friends who came to the wedding and to Ashleigh who coordinated their wedding at Sandburn Hall. I’ll second that!
