An Autumn Wedding at Sandburn Hall in York: Belen and Daniel

Well helloooooo! Boy, I’ve been super-busy lately with a flurry of gorgeous Autumnal weddings plus a bunch of baby and family shoots. I’m just getting on top of the editing and sharing of galleries and ready to get back to a bit of reflection and blogging on some of my recent highlights.

Belen and Daniel received their wedding gallery on Friday so who better to start with? They were married at the beautiful Sandburn Hall last month and it was a wedding with a Spanish flavour! Bel looked absolutely stunning in her Fairy Tale Brides dress and hair by Megan Boyne with punchy red floral bouquets from Petal Studio.

If you follow my work, you’ll know that my style of wedding photography is relaxed and creative. I won’t be bossing people about or getting in your face on your wedding day! I’ll give you some gentle direction so that we get some amazing shots, but for the main party I’ll be in the background photographing your day as it happens. I’m all about real moments rather than stiff poses!

The couples I love to work with care about style but they are laid-back and fun. They want to enjoy their day with their closest friends and family in their own way, and aren’t too hung up on the usual traditions. The road to couples booking with me varies: I love to meet for a drink and a chat if we’re both local but sometimes it’s a phone-call and sometimes it’s just a few emails. Whatever happens, it’s important to me as it will be to you, that we are a good fit. I could tell from the first phone-call with Bel just how lovely she is and I was really excited to work with her! Belen and Daniel don’t live in York so closer to their day, we had a Facetime chat which I always book in if we’ve not had the opportunity to meet in person, as it helps everyone to feel relaxed on the day. This confirmed to me that these two are definitely delightful and totally on my wavelength!

I was with Belen and Daniel for just 4 hours on their day. My usual packages start at 8 hours coverage but if you’re getting married during on a weekday or during a quieter period, I am open to working with you for half a day if that suits your needs and budget better - just let me know! You will still receive tonnes of gorgeous images; there were well over 300 in the finished gallery for these two. It can work well for me too as I can make it home in time to kiss my munchkins goodnight!

Belen is from Spain and I loved the international flavour to their wedding with her Spanish guests and colour scheme: a Brexit fan I am not! Daniel was a brave guy and read his speech in both Spanish and English which went down a storm with the Spanish guests as I was watching their reactions!

We had some fun with the group shots and portraits and I really appreciated their trust in me as I dragged them across the venue to get some shots in front of the building site (see the green back drop)! I’m always on the look-out for something a little different that will make your wedding pictures really unique.

Belen and Daniel love to travel and adventure. Rather than going for a typical honeymoon option of lazing on a beach (don’t get me wrong, this sounds like heaven!), they opted for a once in a lifetime trip to Iceland to experience hot springs and The Northern Lights. This is definitely on my bucket list and I really admire their choice!

It may have only been 4 hours together, but it was a memorable day for me with such a lovely couple and crowd. Wishing Belen and Daniel so much happiness and many more adventures together.

Thanks so much for having me along!

Amy xx
